Service description

Rootka is a free application for creating, sharing and running GPS courses with automatic checkpoint validation. The application offers 8 activity types (running, trail, road cycling, MTB, gravel, paragliding, hiking, trekking) and a real-time leaderboard.

Account creation

Using the service requires creating an account with a valid email address and a unique username. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your credentials and for any activity carried out from your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

User-generated content

You retain ownership of the content you publish on Rootka (courses, photos, descriptions, usernames). By publishing content, you grant Rootka a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display and distribute it within the service, to the extent necessary for the operation of the application.

You agree not to publish any content that:

• is illegal, defamatory, insulting, hateful, discriminatory, violent or pornographic;
• infringes the intellectual property rights or privacy of third parties;
• contains personal data of third parties without their consent;
• poses risks to the safety of other users (dangerous routes, prohibited areas, private property without authorization).

Rootka reserves the right to remove any non-compliant content and to suspend or delete the related account, without notice or compensation.

User responsibility

You alone are responsible for your safety while running a course. You must comply with traffic laws, circulation rules, authorized access (public trails, areas with permission) and assess weather and physical conditions before each outing. Rootka does not replace the user's judgment.

Limitation of liability

Rootka is provided "as is", without any warranty as to availability, exhaustiveness or accuracy of map data and user-shared courses. Rootka cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect damages resulting from the use of the service, including in the event of accident, data loss, service unavailability or course inaccuracy.

Intellectual property

The Rootka application, its name, logo, interface and source code are the exclusive property of Clement Levasseur. Any unauthorized reproduction, modification or distribution is prohibited. Maps use OpenStreetMap data (ODbL license) via OpenFreeMap tiles.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the application. Rootka may suspend or delete your account in case of violation of these ToS, without notice or compensation.

Changes to the ToS

Rootka reserves the right to modify these ToS at any time. Significant changes will be notified to you in the application before they take effect. Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the new ToS.

Applicable law

These ToS are governed by French law. In case of dispute, and after attempting amicable resolution, French courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
