About

Bringing racing back to a human scale.

Rootka was born in Auvergne, a region where nature is everywhere and you grow up outdoors. Behind the project is the same passion for every outdoor sport (cycling, trail running, hiking) and a competitive spirit. But there's one thing we never liked about racing: pricey bibs, an often elitist vibe and events with thousands of starters.

We've always preferred village races to big machines: a simple, human scale, where putting on an event doesn't take massive logistics. That's the scale we want to give back to everyone.

And then there was that frustration with segments: they're nice, but what we really want is to link point A to point B as fast as possible, or climb to the top of a mountain, our own way, not just shaving a few seconds off a stretch of road.

Rootka is about changing our relationship with racing. Seeing it differently: asynchronously, without everyone having to run the same place at the same time, respecting each person's constraints. You create a course, share it with a code, and everyone runs it whenever they want, then we compare, we challenge, we nudge each other.

Ultimately, we want to make racing simpler to organize, more accessible and more playful. To turn any patch of nature into a playground, at the scale of a group of friends, a club or a village.
